The question triggers a lot of discussion and leads into the obvious followup question, what should we be eating now? What have our bodies evolved into and are the diseases rampant in our society a result of not eating what our bodies naturally need? The debate is between paleo – referring to the idea of eating like our ancestors did – vs. vegan – basically a plant-based diet.
It’s probably closer to the truth to say that we are adapted to both vegetarian and carnivorous diets. But what are most definitely NOT adapted to is High Fructose Corn Syrup.
